SandboxAQ Brings Quantum-Inspired Models to Cloud Marketplace

SandboxAQ has announced plans to make two large quantitative models available on Google Cloud Marketplace in 2026, targeting critical industrial applications in materials and drug discovery.

AQCat will launch in Q3 2026, focusing on catalyst and materials discovery through adsorption energy calculation. Catalysts underpin more than 90% of all commercially produced chemical products and directly impact green hydrogen, sustainable aviation fuel, fertiliser production and plastics recycling.

AQPotency will follow later in 2026, designed for drug discovery. The model will enable researchers to evaluate thousands of binding molecule candidates in a fraction of the time and cost of traditional screening.

Company Background

SandboxAQ began life at Alphabet in 2016 before launching as a spin-out in 2022. The company is chaired by Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google.

SandboxAQ is already integrated with Anthropic’s Claude AI model, expanding its accessibility within the AI ecosystem.
