Technology Pace Outstripping Irish Adults’ Ability to Adapt

Almost three-quarters of Irish adults said technology was evolving faster than they could keep pace with, according to a Vodafone Foundation survey of a representative sample of 1,000 Irish adults.

The concern is particularly acute among older cohorts. Some 81 per cent of Irish adults aged 65 and over reported struggling to keep up with technological change.

Almost half of Irish adults surveyed by the Vodafone Foundation felt online safety and privacy affected their ability to benefit from technology.

Vodafone Foundation Launches Support Initiatives

In response, the Vodafone Foundation has launched two targeted programmes. Hi Digital aims to bring digital skills and online safety training to older adults, while Tozi is a digital wellbeing and online safety app aimed at younger people.

Children and AI Chatbots

Meanwhile, a CyberSafeKids report found more than a quarter of primary school-aged children in Ireland were interacting with AI-enabled chatbots.

Microsoft changed its text prediction feature in Word and Outlook so it is no longer enabled by default.
