Ireland’s Gateway to European AI Infrastructure

Ireland has launched the AI Factory Antenna (AIF IRL-Antenna), described as the country’s national gateway to Europe’s AI network. The initiative is backed by €10m in joint European and Irish Government funding.

The AIF IRL-Antenna will be operated by the Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC) at University of Galway, in partnership with CeADAR, Ireland’s Centre for AI. The partnership involves seven regional innovation hubs across Ireland.

Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science James Lawless, TD, whose department contributed to funding, presided over the launch.

Connection to European Infrastructure

The AIF IRL-Antenna connects Ireland to the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) infrastructure, positioning the country within Europe’s broader AI computing ecosystem.
