Research Fund Now Open

The BPS Cyberpsychology Section Research Fund is currently accepting applications. The fund offers up to £500 per applicant for participant payments in cyberpsychology research.

Application Deadline: 30 September 2026

Important Timeline: Research Fund recipients must have the BPS invoiced by Friday 18 December 2026.

Membership of the BPS Cyberpsychology Section is restricted to members of the British Psychological Society.

About the BPS Cyberpsychology Section

The Section was established in 2019 and operates a monthly scheduled Twitter chat called #CyberSectionChat, also established in 2019.

Current Leadership:

  • Dr Linda K. Kaye, Associate Head in the Department of Psychology at Edge Hill University, is listed as Past Chair and a founding member of the Section
  • Dr Lisa J. Orchard, Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Wolverhampton, serves as Secretary
  • Dr John Blythe, Industry Representative, is an honorary research fellow at UCL Dawes Centre for Future Crime
  • The Chair Elect position is currently vacant

Cyberpsychology Journal Updates

Cyberpsychology: Journal of Psychosocial Research on Cyberspace reopened its submission system on 1 September 2026 following a summer closure and has introduced updated submission requirements designed to strengthen quality, transparency, and reproducibility.

The journal published a new issue on 4 September 2026 containing 15 new articles covering topics including artificial intelligence and synthetic relationships, digital privacy, content moderation, media multitasking, and digital inclusion.
