Anthropic Launches Life Sciences Research Division

Anthropric has formed a dedicated life sciences research group and laboratory to conduct fundamental biology research using Claude end-to-end. In a significant early result, Claude discovered a novel enzyme system containing CRISPR-like repeats, described as a potential new class of programmable nucleases.

Multi-Agent Market Experiments Show Alignment Progress

Anthropric conducted a controlled multi-agent market experiment called ‘Project Swap’, where Claude-powered agents negotiated book trades on behalf of human participants across six offices. The agents achieved 61% pairwise ranking alignment with their human principals, derived from a five-minute preference interview.

In the experiment, model choice dominated instruction design in determining negotiation outcomes. Project Swap followed an earlier experiment called ‘Project Deal’, forming a sequential research series.

Anthropic Streamlines Claude Code with Major Prompt Reduction

Anthropric removed more than 80% of Claude Code’s system prompt for its Opus 5 and Fable 5 models with no measurable loss on coding evaluations, pointing to potential efficiency gains in model deployment.
